 | Learning from the Giants: How Wal-Mart, Target, and Home Depot create, consume and leverage data.
Boyd discusses how large retailers use data to drive their businesses. Beginning with a brief history of data in the retailing industry, he illustrates how different databases interact with one another, particularly in the supply chain. He presents some lessons that can be learned from the successes and failures of retailers as they continue to cope with the growth of data and the growing demands placed on that data. The lessons aren't limited to large retailers. There's something for every company, large or small.
