| Digital Fabrication isn't just for Engineers AnymoreAdobe Illustrator, Inkscape, Google Sketchup. You probably don't think engineering tools when you think of these software applications. Now with MIT's Fab Lab initiative (specifically: the new Hardesty Center for Fab Lab right here in Tulsa!), opensource design tools can be used to design widgets, parts, clothing, arwork, sculpture, bikes, boats, and so much more. Take a look at what equipment (such as laser-cutters and 3d printers) is available at the Fab Lab, and find out how to use software you may already have at your fingertips to design & invent on your own.
Open Source software that is easy-to-use and useful in part design, circuit design, and programming. The availability of this software on the internet enables the public to freely download and use them outside the lab on their own PC?s. Then a digital copy of these ?homemade? designs can be brought into the lab on a USB drive for printing and assembly.
