Sessions
Team based SQL Development
From unit testing to integration testing, we'll run the gambit of team based Development. Using both products and process, you'll see how to deploy both schema and code with confidence. In addition to doing this process successfully, I have failed at it a great many times... Rest assured, I'll be showing you the ways that have worked and discussing ways that haven't.

ORM Smackdown: Dapper vs Massive vs PetaPoco
While Tom's talk on fatty ORM's like Entity Framework have the appearance of being an Easy Button(tm), they come with a lot of bloat. In this session, we will look into why "web scale" sites like StackOverFlow are ditching ORMS like Linq and EF and moving onto lean data loving micro ORMs like Dapper, Massive and PetaPoco... And don't worry, though I am a DBA, there will be no stored procs in this talk.

An hour in the life as the DBA for StackOverFlow.com
We've have just been hired as the temp DBA or developer for a website getting hammered by users. Our job is to figure out what is wrong with the site and fix the system. Server settings, memory pressure, disk configurations, index options - we run the gauntlet of fixing a SQL Server built by AppDevs that has just run into a wall of web scale. This presentation is geared towards both database administrators and developers interested in improving the performance of website applications running against SQL Server databases. We'll be using the StackOverFlow.com data dumps as our real world scenario.
