Tim is an international speaker that is always looking for opportunities to share his passion for SQL Server, Tableau and data visualization. Tim is active in the SQL community and leads a data visualization focused user group in the Dallas area. Tim Started working with data in Access 95 and has worked in every ersion of SQL from SQL 7 forward.

Pro Tips: Tuning the data flow in SSIS

Synchronous and asynchronous components, memory buffers, data type choices, Oh My! Tuning the data flow is all about choices. In this session we'll walk through some of the choices that can give you the biggest performance boosts in your ssis data flow. Together we'll work through the differences between synchronous and asynchronous components. We'll highlight components that should be avoided and explore alternates that can help us create the fastest data flow possible.

In this session we'll cover all the pieces of a classic Kimball style data mart (Star schema, fact tables, dimension tables). We'll talk about the data warehouse bus architecture and how it can be used to quickly create data marts with conformed dimensions. We'll talk about what it means to have conformed dimensions and why it's important.
