Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivations for Knowledge Sharing
Knowledge management is impossible without people. Sure, technology is important, but people are the ultimate creators, amassers, maintainers, and end users of all knowledge. I will explore the differences between learning goal orientation (LGO) and performance goal orientation (PGO) as pertains to knowledge sharing, the ways in which employees make decisions, managerial and organizational support of knowledge sharing, and the importance of intuitive knowledge repositories. These concepts form a circular chain of reason. Each concept depends on the others and none are sufficient for true knowledge management in and of themselves.
