Transferring Pipeline Operations Knowledge Using Simulation
Presented by: Brad Kindle
In order to stay competitive in a world where technology is changing rapidly, organizations have to empower their employees with the ability to think creatively, utilize innovative processes, and to solve problems. There are many different methods available, but few can provide the benefits of simulators. Simulators provide the ability to discover, capture, transfer and retain knowledge for reuse by its employees. These simulators are utilized by many industries to discover and measure an employee's knowledge in a particular area. They are being utilized for airline pilot training, in the medical field, pipeline control centers, etc. This presentation will focus on the oil field/pipeline industry and how simulators are being utilized to manage the knowledge of pipeline controllers.

Knowledge Management Influence on Business Potential
Presented by: Teresa Adams
If your company already possessed all the information on who had the best product, hot ideas and cost efficient techniques, and what firm was the most imposing competition or how others in your industry work, would you protect it? If someone in your department had a question, do you know who to ask or where to find the answer? Is it a person that holds all this knowledge? What will happen when this resource leaves, retires or gets a better position at your competition? If the answer to each of these questions could be found in a methodology or practice, would you participate and make it part of your company culture? The answer to the questions listed is found in Knowledge Management (KM).

Intelligent Knowledge: Intregrating Business Intelligence with Knowledge Management
Presented by: Kelly King
In this technology driven world, both Knowledge Management (KM) and Business Intelligence (BI) are widely used and relied upon by businesses to make informed strategic decisions. While, both KM and BI utilize knowledge and are very similar, they are also very different. This presentation compares and contrasts BI and KM and outlines how the two areas of discipline are different, yet their foundational principles are complimentary and interrelated.
