James Huckaby, Software Architect, McKesson Corporation

James Huckaby, Software Architect, McKesson Corporation

James Huckaby is a software architect with McKesson Corporation. Since the year 2000, he has worked with enterprise level software (hopefully) making the world a better place for this wayward class of software. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, James lives in Tulsa with his wife, 2 daughters and their cats. He continues to neglect his websites, Twitter feed and various creative projects much to the delight of his friends and family.

Using IIS ARR and URL Rewrite to fix your legacy web architecture

Is your security department has laying down firewall restrictions for your web product that was designed before RESTful HTTP API's were the industry standard? Are your legacy web servers stuck in the DMZ so it's a nightmare to do any web-service interaction? In this track, I will discuss implementing IIS Application Request Routing (ARR) as a proxy solution on Windows environments. The discussion will include examples for URL Rewriting as well as an architecture discussion on migration from an tiered web-server/app-server model to a web-services model. Per my background, the discussion will include dealing with mixed set of Microsoft web technologies including Classic ASP, ASP.NET, MVC and WebAPI. There may be an attempt to add JBoss or Apache in the back-end (just to show you I can).
