Matthew Groves, Developer Advocate, Couchbase

Matthew Groves, Developer Advocate, Couchbase

Matthew D. Groves is a guy who loves to code. It doesn't matter if it's "enterprisey" C# apps, cool jQuery stuff, contributing to OSS, or rolling up his sleeves to dig into some PHP. He has been coding professionally ever since he wrote a QuickBASIC point-of-sale app for his parent's pizza shop back in the 90s. He currently works as a Developer Advocate for Couchbase, and loves spending time with his wife and 2 kids, watching the Cincinnati Reds, and getting involved in the developer community. He has a BS in Computer Science, an MBA, and has experience in education, consulting, product development, and developer advocacy/evangelism. He is a Microsoft MVP.

Full Stack Development with Node.js and NoSQL

In this session, we will talk about what is different about this generation of web applications and how a solid development approach must consider the latency, throughput and interactivity demand by users across both mobile devices, web browsers, and IoT. We will demonstrate how to include Couchbase in such applications to support a flexible data model and easy scalability required for modern development.

We will demonstrate how to create a full stack application focusing on the CEAN stack which is composed of Couchbase, Express Framework, AngularJS, and Node.js.

SQL for JSON: Querying with Performance for NoSQL Databases and Applications

In today's world of agile business, developers and organizations benefit when JSON-based NoSQL databases and SQL-based querying come together. NoSQL provides schema flexibility, high performance, and elastic scaling. SQL provides expressive, independent data access. Developers need to deliver apps that readily evolve, perform, and scale, all to match changing business needs. Organizations need rapid access to their operational data, using standard analytical tools, for insight into their business. In this session, you will learn to build apps that combine NoSQL and SQL for agility, performance, and scalability. This includes: - SQL for JSON - JSON data modeling - Indexing - Tool integration You will understand how to effectively use NoSQL, using open-source technologies.
