I have been a software developer for 17 years now. I have worked in various industries from advertising to voice recognition. I love troubleshooting and problem-solving. As a team lead and senior programmer at Infinity Interactive, Inc., I do primarily C# development for web and mobile. My passion for mobile development has driven to found the DFW Mobile .NET User Group and helped me achieve my Xamarin MVP.

Introduction to Xamarin

When considering how to build iOS and Android applications, many people think that the native languages, Objective-C, Swift, and Java, are the only choice. However, over the past few years, an entirely new ecosystem of platforms for building mobile applications has emerged.

Xamarin is unique in this space by offering .NET languages ? C# and F#, class library, and runtime that works across all three mobile platforms of iOS, Android, and Windows Phone (Windows Phone?s native language is already C#), while still compiling native (non-interpreted) applications that are performant enough even for demanding games.

Introduction to Xamarin.Forms

Xamarin.Forms allow you to build native user interfaces for iOS, Mac, Android, and UWP using shared C#. Xamarin.Forms include more than 40 controls and layouts, which are mapped to native controls at runtime. First, we will go over project new with Xamarin Forms. Then, we'll discuss the latest in Xamarin Forms including bindable pickers and new on idiom for Desktop. Next, we will look at what's ahead with Xamarin Forms Roadmap.

Learn how to add notifications, remote and local, to your application. Whether it?s an iOS, Android, or Windows, it?s easy to add notifications. We will take a look at using AWS Notification Service, Azure Notification Hub, and even doing your own Push Notifications with PushSharp.

Push notifications are a mainstay for making a polished and well-rounded application. It?s important on how you handle your notifications and display them. The wrong sound or not navigating to the item can make for a poor user experience.
